Elise A. Moran
In 1990 she graduated from Rhode Island
School of Design with a BFA in Jewelry
Design and Metalsmithing. She started her
career working on production jewelry for
other designers and soon had her own line
which she markets throughout the country
(and abroad). In 1993 She and her sister
opened a gallery featuring her work. Her
designs are created in either silver or gold
and are generally done with a satin finish
which emphasizes the form of the object
and enhances the color of the metal. She
spent much of her childhood traveling and
draws much inspiration from this experience.
She is also heavily influenced by nature,
science and religion. She often takes a
natural object and creates her own
interpretation of it%u2013giving the piece a refined
elegance and simplicity. Many of her designs
have been a sketch years before they
become jewelry%u2014she likes to consider all
aspects of wearability before creating a new
design. She hopes the person wearing her
jewelry finds that it is a reflection of their
personality and not merely an adornment.
